Recent ActivityThe Language Assessment & Development Department (LADD) coordinates all aspects of English Learner Programs for the Pasadena Unified School District including
- The coordination of the District’s CELDT (California English Language Development Test) assessments on initial English Learners as well as monitoring their progress in acquiring English annually until they are reclassified;
- Coordinating the Annual Census of English Learners;
- Providing an annual Evaluation of English Learner Programs;
- The monitoring of state and federal English Learner funds;
- Providing staff development and instructional support to teachers of English Learners;
- Supporting parents through the DELAC (District English Learner Advisory Committee);
- Coordinating the district’s Seal of Biliteracy Award; and
- Coordinating services at the Newcomer Center at Blair High School.
News & Announcements Seal of BiliteracyThe Seal of Biliteracy is awarded to graduating seniors who have demonstrated proficiency in English and another language. The Seal of Biliteracy was offered for the first time during the 2010-2011 school year with 69 qualifying seniors wearing the Seal at their high school graduation ceremonies.
The Seal of Biliteracy Language Examination will be given in Spanish and Armenian at the Pasadena High School on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 8:00-11:00 AM. High school juniors and seniors who are interested in taking this exam should submit a registration form to their school's counseling office by Friday, December 16, 2011.
